Allergy Season is Here!

‘Tis the season for itchy eyes, scratchy throats, and sneezing. It’s the worst feeling–bouncing between weather and being sick from it. Every person with allergies is fed up with having them.

“It’s like I live in a bubble, and I risk my life to come to school every day,” said Megan Budnick.

AHS student Kasey Toliver said, “I live my life during allergy season through Allegra.”

Allergies are caused by an overactive immune system, and your body mistakes things like dust and pollen for germs and attacks. Allergies can last from days to months depending on how long you are exposed to allergens.

In order to prevent itchy eyes and scratchy throats, be cautious around pollen. The wind blows pollen around, causing it to greatly affect people.

Tips to control allergies:

  • Buy some over the counter eyewash
  • Stay indoors on windy days
  • Don’t hang dry clothes outside

For more information on how to control your allergies during the change of seasons, talk to the AHS nurses.
