57th Grammy Awards Held on Sunday, February 8

On Sunday February 8th, CBS held the 57th Annual Grammys Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It was shown live on television at 5:00pm (Pacific Time). The show was hosted by none other than LL Cool J, for the fourth year in a row.

There’s many categories, like R&B to Rap, from Country to Pop. It’s a diverse show for anyone who enjoys listening to music. Lots of new artists were really recognized this year, like Sam Smith, winning a total of 6 Grammys!

“I really liked that John Legend was there, Sam Smith, and I think they both deserved everything they won especially Sam Smith because he came out of the blue and is really good,” Mark Holloway, senior, said. “I liked the performances too, like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Kanye West.”

“Before I watched it, I didn’t know who was nominated, then I saw that Ed Sheeran was and of course he won something, I love him,” AHS teacher, Mrs. Voskuhl, said. “I was interested to see if Iggy Azalea would win anything, and she didn’t. I felt like it was a little boring this year, but my favorite performance was Hozier and Anny Lennox.”

There were many new and exciting things going on, and people being noticed this year. Sadly, some of the emerging artists didn’t win anything, but there’s always next year. If you enjoy a certain artist, make sure you show your support to them by voting next year!
