The “man bun” is new hair fad trending among men in both the celebrity and ordinary world alike. The man bun is a hairstyle in which men with unusually long hair tie their hair into either a high or low bun in the same fashion in which a woman would, nothing unique.  I conducted a survey of 80 students around Aberdeen High School (AHS) to find out how the high school teenager feels about this up and coming trend.

I split the survey into five categories: Love it, Hate it, Ehh… it’s okay, It Depends on the Person and I really don’t care. While conducting the survey I did not let the surveyor know the previous results in order to avoid the vote from being swayed in any particular direction.

Another factor I needed to address going into my survey was the fact that some people are unaware of what a “man bun” is. In order to ensure that all people could answer the survey, I brought with me a sheet of paper containing five different examples of what a man bun looks like.

After surveying 80 students and teachers I found that most people were not completely opposed to the man bun but rather felt that “it depends on the person.”

The results are displayed in the attached chart.

To my surprise, many people truly did “not care” about whether or not males decide to rock the man bun. As student Morgan Henry stated, “people can do whatever they want to be happy.” Ian Williams, another AHS student, followed by saying “it’s different, so why not?”

Whether or not you love the man bun, it seems as though this trend will be around for a while.
