Every senior is excited for their senior year. They have many things to look forward to, but also things to stress out about. The College Board organization agrees, saying on their website that “Staying focused during senior year can be a challenge.”
An anonymous source says, “Senior year can be difficult. Especially learning to fill out applications, and narrowing it down to one college.” However, not all students focus on the stresses.
Beverly, a student at Aberdeen, says, “I’m looking forward to senior week and all of that, especially prom.”
Senior year has definitely changed over time, and even more so in the past ten years. Mrs. Kincaid, a teacher at Aberdeen, said that she thought that students in general have changed since she has graduated.
She said, “Social media has changed everything. People’s priorities in general have changed…many students are more egocentric.”
Social media has definitely changed the way that we work and live and has definitely left an impact on seniors. Senior Isaiah Everett says, “Seniors in school are more likely to connect outside of school, and have a more involved social life.”
“But, when something gets out that you don’t want to get out, social media lets more people see it and it gets around more quickly,” he said, highlighting a not-so-good part about social media for seniors.
Senior year is still exciting and traditional, but has recently been tweaked a bit thanks to social media.
