Jostens has started to offer something different from the normal class ring. If you prefer necklaces to rings, there are now customized class tags available for purchase.
A class tag resembles a dog tag with some major differences. Other than the obvious similarity of the shape, class tags are also similar due to their purpose of signifying who you are. Although, they have much more design than the basic dog tag.
Isadora Fink explained, “I would much rather have a necklace, I never wear rings.”
This option is not meant to replace class rings, but to be an option for those who dislike them and would prefer another way to honor their class. Class rings are still available and preferred by many students
One anonymous student explained that they would be sticking to the class ring and not be buying a class tag due to the fact that she already wears too many necklaces.
Like class rings, they can be customized from a variety of options. From the metal used to the style of a jumping attaching it to the chain (style which you chose) to a charm added, there are a multitude of options.
As far as price goes between the two, it seems there will be cheaper options for both and more expensive options for both. What you want will decide the cost of both, and if cost is a main concern, compare the two you want.
Will class tags be the next big thing or will it fade into the background? Will this inspire other class jewelry to come onto the scene or is what is out now all that we have available? Change is on the rise, and we await it.
